AviationSpeak is designed with privacy as a priority. There are no user accounts, no personal information is collected, and your learning data stays on your device. This policy explains exactly what information the app handles and how.
AviationSpeak is a mobile application developed and published by Juan J. Lazo Jr., an individual developer based in the United States (referred to in this policy as "I," "me," or "the developer"). AviationSpeak is the product name; it is not a registered legal entity.
This Privacy Policy describes how AviationSpeak ("the App") handles your information. If you have any questions about this policy, you can contact me at aviationspeakapp@gmail.com.
This Privacy Policy is provided in English only. If you have difficulty understanding any part of this policy, please contact me at aviationspeakapp@gmail.com for clarification.
AviationSpeak does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:
The App does not integrate any third-party analytics SDKs, advertising networks, or tracking tools.
The App stores certain data locally on your device using Apple's standard storage mechanisms (UserDefaults, local file storage, and App Groups for widget functionality). This data never leaves your device and is not transmitted to me or any third party.
If you add the AviationSpeak widget to your home screen, the App shares the "term of the day" and your selected language with the widget using Apple's App Group mechanism. This data stays on your device.
You can delete all local data at any time by uninstalling the App. Uninstalling removes all favorites, notes, history, and streak data permanently.
AviationSpeak offers the following paid options:
All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. I do not collect, receive, or store any payment information, including credit card numbers, billing addresses, or Apple ID details. Apple's handling of your payment information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
The App verifies your subscription or purchase status directly with Apple using Apple's StoreKit framework. I do not maintain any separate record of who has purchased the App.
You can view, change, or cancel subscriptions at any time in the Settings app on your device: Settings → [Your Name] → Subscriptions. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period.
When you download the App or make a purchase, Apple collects certain aggregated and anonymized information (such as app downloads, region, device type, and crash reports) and makes this information available to me through App Store Connect. This data is provided by Apple, governed by Apple's privacy practices, and is not linked to your personal identity. I use this information only to understand general App performance and improve the product.
If you contact me by email (for example, to report a problem, suggest a feature, or flag an incorrect translation), I will receive the email address you send from and any information you choose to include in your message. I use this information only to respond to your inquiry and do not add you to any marketing list.
The App includes in-app "Report a Problem" and "Report a Term" features that open your default email client. Your email address is not sent or collected automatically — it is only included if you send the email yourself.
AviationSpeak is a professional aviation education tool designed for pilots, certified flight instructors, aviation mechanics, dispatchers, and other aviation professionals. The App is not directed at children under the age of 13.
I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the App collects no personal information from anyone, this is automatic. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information to the App, please contact me at aviationspeakapp@gmail.com and I will confirm that no data is stored.
Because no personal data is collected, most rights under data protection laws (such as the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation and the California Consumer Privacy Act) are not applicable in the usual sense. Nevertheless, you have the following rights regarding the data AviationSpeak handles:
Residents of the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, California, and other jurisdictions with applicable privacy laws can exercise these rights by contacting me at aviationspeakapp@gmail.com.
Because your data is stored only on your device and protected by your device's built-in security (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID, and iOS encryption), AviationSpeak benefits from Apple's strong device-level protections. I do not operate any servers that store your data and therefore cannot experience a server-side data breach involving your information.
AviationSpeak uses the following third-party services provided by Apple as part of the standard iOS platform:
These Apple services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. The App does not use any non-Apple third-party services, SDKs, or APIs that collect user data.
AviationSpeak is available worldwide on the Apple App Store. Because the App stores data only on your device and does not transmit personal data internationally, data transfer laws do not apply to the App's core functionality.
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, applicable laws, or my practices. When I make material changes, I will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users within the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois and the United States of America, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any disputes arising under this policy will be resolved exclusively in the courts of the United States.
